Marblehead High School is pleased to announce Alison Carey as the varsity field hockey head coach for the 2025 season. With a wealth of experience both on and off the field, Carey brings a unique combination of athletic excellence, a deep understanding of student-athlete needs, and a passion for building a successful team culture.
Originally from Eastchester, New York, Alison has lived with her family in Marblehead for the past 20 years. She attended Sacred Heart Greenwich, where she was a three-sport athlete and captain of the varsity swim team. She is a graduate of Boston College, where she played club field hockey. In addition to her athletic background, Alison has a master’s degree in social work from Simmons University and is currently a clinical social worker at Marblehead High School with a special focus on trauma practice and sport social work. She has worked closely with the athletic tepartment, supporting the Captains Leadership Council and leading an effort to develop a coaching mentor program.
“Alison lives in town and is a teacher at the high school,” said Marblehead Athletic Director Kent Wheeler. “She is already a part of our athletic community. She upholds and lives by the athletic department core values of respect, integrity, teamwork, commitment, responsibility, and sportsmanship that are so important. I am really excited to have her lead our field hockey program, where her enthusiasm and dedication will inspire our student-athletes.”
