Brian Walshe, who denies killing Ana Walshe, pictured, pleaded guilty last month to misleading police and improper conveyance of a human body. Her body has not been found. (Instagram)

Ana Walshe’s story continues to grip Marblehead

December 3, 2025 by Sophia Harris

As prosecutors presented new forensic evidence on Tuesday in the murder trial of Brian Walshe, the case of Ana Walshe has once again gripped the North Shore, particularly here in Marblehead, where the couple once lived and where Ana posted joyful glimpses of her life before her disappearance.

In a Norfolk Superior Court hearing on Tuesday, investigators detailed a series of online searches extracted from Brian Walshe’s laptop. The searches that began in the early hours of Jan. 1, 2023, just after the couple rang in the New Year with a close friend inside their Cohasset home. According to testimony from Massachusetts State Trooper Nicholas Guarino, the first query appeared at 4:52 a.m., which stated “best ways to dispose of a body.”

Dozens of searches followed over the next three days, prosecutors said, involving dismemberment, decomposition, inheritance rules, and crime-scene cleanup. Ana Walshe’s body has never been found.

Brian Walshe, 50, who last month pleaded guilty to misleading investigators and improper conveyance of a body, continues to face a first-degree murder charge in the death of his wife.

The latest developments have stirred renewed attention in Marblehead, where Ana Walshe and her family lived from approximately 2019 to 2022.

On Feb. 15, 2019, Ana posted a photograph on Instagram tagged in Marblehead, accompanied by a message brimming with excitement and affection as she posed in a Maserati Levante allegedly bought by her husband.

“The best Valentine’s of my life! I loved cars since I was little, and I remember reading about 400hp and this type of acceleration in Top Speed magazine in Belgrade years ago. It sounded surreal compared to my father’s 60-hp-charged Russian Lada at the time. Kiss to my husband who makes all of my childhood dreams come true! I’ll certainly have fun with this one!”

Another post on April 12, 2020, showed her, Brian Walshe, and her two children blowing out a birthday cake candle in their Marblehead home. The photo was captioned, “My birthday wish in one photo! Wait, it already came true!”

Ana Walshe, a rising real estate professional commuting weekly to Washington, D.C., was reported missing on Jan. 4, 2023, after she failed to appear at work. Cohasset police found no evidence she had booked a rideshare to Logan Airport, contradicting her husband’s account.

Investigators later uncovered blood in the home’s basement, a damaged knife, and surveillance footage showing Brian Walshe disposing of heavy trash bags at several dumpsters. Some bags were lost before recovery, but others contained items believed to belong to Ana, including clothing and personal effects carrying both spouses’ DNA, in a dumpster behind Brian’s mother’s Swampscott apartment building.

As the criminal investigation deepened, details emerged about Brian Walshe’s past — including federal charges stemming from an art-fraud scheme and accusations that he had misrepresented his inheritance following his father’s death on the South Shore.

Here in Marblehead, the unfolding testimony has been met with renewed heartbreak and disbelief. The cheerful Valentine’s Day post she shared from Marblehead now stands in stark contrast to the dark revelations emerging in court.

The trial continues, and prosecutors maintain that the digital evidence, including the newly revealed search history, will play a central role in a case still seeking answers without the recovery of a body.
