While Marblehead’s Got Talent has only been put on by the Marblehead Rotary for 16 years, the town has certainly still had talent long before that tradition got started. In honor of the MGT finals taking place next week in Beverly, this week’s back in time takes a look at three Marblehead High School students who were recognized for their musical talents.
A photo from an issue of The Daily Evening Item, dated March 19, 1985, shows Julie Oullette, Stephanie Altman, and Laurie Oppelt, who were all selected for the All-State Chorus and Orchestra in 1985, which showcases the top high school musicians from across the state of Massachusetts. The three performed at Northboro on Saturday, March 30, 1985.
Between MGT competitions and a number of local bands and artists who have made names for themselves across the north shore and beyond, Marblehead is no stranger to producing talented musicians.
