The Marblehead School Committee opted to skip a first reading of a drafted flag policy and instead voted last Thursday to enable Chair Jenn Schaeffner to bring it back to the subcommittee and have attorney John Foskett of Valeria Dominello & Hillman, LLC. answer more questions.
This decision came after 40 minutes of public comment against the drafted flag policy, as well as some discussion among committee members. Committee member Sarah Fox addressed the audience after the unanimous motion was passed.
“I know that no one’s happy that this is continuing, but I want to make sure that we’re taking the time to get our questions answered, make sure we’re following the advice of legal (counsel), and also, at the same time, trying to hear all sides — not one side or the other, but all sides,” she said.
