Though it’s only August, the Marblehead Cub Scouts are already looking forward to an exciting year ahead, including their Pine Wood Derby, pack hikes, a baseball game at Fenway Park, and their annual sleepover at fun locations such as Battleship Cove or the EcoTarium. Then there will be the trip to New England Base Camp, which includes rock climbing, archery, learning wilderness skills, outdoor cooking, and more. All this, besides the Cub Scouts’ regular entertaining and educational pack and den meetings.
Marblehead Cub Scouts is a yearlong family program, welcoming boys and girls in kindergarten through the fifth grade to join this September. Join cub scouting in person at Clifton Lutheran Church (150 Humphrey St.) on Saturday, Sept. 7 from 9 to 11 a.m., where you will be able to speak to pack leadership, receive information about scouting, meet scouts, and see some of your friends that are also signing up for Cub Scouts. Alternatively, if the date of Sept. 7 doesn’t work for you, please go to www.mhdscouting.org, which has detailed information regarding the two Cub Scout packs in Marblehead (Pack 11 and Pack 79). Also, note that one may join scouting at any time throughout the year by coming to a pack meeting or by emailing us.
Cub Scouts enjoy the outdoors, learn new skills, make many new friends, and have FUN. Among the goals of scouting are the development of character, leadership, community service, and good citizenship. Cub scouting in Marblehead is sponsored by Clifton Lutheran Church and by the Spirit of Adventure Scout Council of “Scouting America” (www.scoutspirit.org). The Cub Scouts hope to see you on Sept. 7!
