Following a sold-out performance two years ago, Jon Pousette-Dart — best known as an American classic and folk-rock songwriter, musician and performing artist — will return to the Me&Thee on April 25 at 8 p.m.
Pousette-Dart earned a loyal national following through the 70s and 80s as he and his band produced five albums for Capitol Records, which received deep plays on album radio across the country. He will be performing acoustically at the Me&Thee with his well-known collaborator Jim Chapdelaine in an evening of new songs and old folk rock favorites.
“It’s a really nice musical exchange, and it’s nice and intimate and organic, and people really like it, this acoustic environment,” Pousette-Dart said about playing with Chapdelaine. “It’s just warm, close up, personal, and the songs really come alive.”
The Pousette-Dart Band became a favorite of the college circuit and one of the busiest touring groups in the U.S. While the original group disbanded in the early 80s, Pousette-Dart kept performing with original drummer Eric Parker and continued writing and producing into the 90s, when he returned to Nashville to begin recording again on his own.
He’s released five solo albums and has co-written with some of the finest writers in the country, including: Darrell Scott, Gary Nicholson, Jaime Kyle, John Bohlinger, Angelo, Sally Barris and Angela Kaset.
Pousette-Dart’s continued writing and travels have kept him engaged in Nashville, where the original band’s first albums were recorded, and he has continued performing nationally while writing steadily with many of the finest writers that embody the best of the American music scene.
