Living Swell — a lifestyle brand for home decor, furnishings and personal items based in Old Town Marblehead — is celebrating its 10th year in business.
To commemorate this achievement, Living Swell is hosting an event Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at its storefront at 154 Washington St. Attendees will enjoy an evening of wine catered by Currently Wine Co., cheese and “great company.”
Marketing Manager Devyn LaCamera wrote that this 10th year in business is “a milestone marked by a steadfast commitment to merging purposeful practices with timeless aesthetics.”
“Since opening its doors in March 2015, Living Swell has transformed spaces by honoring their original character and converting them into elegant, intentional environments,” LaCamera wrote. “In addition to its innovative design services, the company’s retail boutique in downtown Marblehead has quickly become a local destination, showcasing a carefully curated collection of home decor and gifts that embody mindful luxury and creative inspiration.”
At its storefront in Old Town, one side is dedicated to “ready to wear” retail, while the other side is the design studio. Diana James — owner, lead designer and creator of Living Swell — said she does a lot of renovation work, home decor, yacht design and hospitality. She added that Living Swell is “also a place that people can come in and use as a resource for wallpaper, furniture, lighting and fabrics.”

“What Living Swell embodies is a coastal, easy elegance. (It’s) attainable, something that people want to strive for,” James said.
James said Living Swell “can make basically anything” through its custom accents program — and recently, Living Swell hosted a DIY pillow workshop where attendees were able to choose a pillow shape and the fabric to go with them. All these creations will be on display March 20 at the 10-year celebration before ultimately going to the people who created them.

LaCamera added that James is “at the heart of Living Swell’s success” and that “Living Swell is excited to expand its design footprint with new projects in Connecticut and the Berkshires.”
“In the Berkshires, Diana has embarked on a personal passion project – a historic farmhouse that is currently being renovated back to its former glory. This venture not only extends Living Swell’s influence, but also embodies the company’s commitment to mindful luxury by blending historic charm with modern, intentional design,” wrote LaCamera.
