To the editor,
Sarah Fox has faced public criticism, some of it harsh and personal, and she has made decisions that haven’t always pleased every group. True leadership is not about appeasing the loudest voices; it’s about standing up and doing what’s right for the entire community: all students, all families, and all educators.
Proudly, Sarah Fox along with other School Committee members were recently recognized by the Anti Defamation League (ADL) for her support of the Proclamation against the MTA’s antisemitic curriculum resources.
Sarah Fox’s actions speak for themselves:
- Established a Task Force Against Discrimination, focusing on addressing antisemitism in our schools.
- Developed a comprehensive Flag Policy to ensure fairness, prevent antisemitism, and avoid viewpoint discrimination lawsuits. This policy was deemed necessary due to the removal of an Israeli flag while other political flags remained displayed.
- Supported a proclamation to ensure the antisemitic and anti-Israel curriculum materials produced by the Massachusetts Teachers Association (MTA) does not enter Marblehead classrooms — an act that earned them personal recognition from the Anti-Defamation League (ADL).
- Commissioned an independent investigation by hiring an outside agency to address serious allegations of antisemitism, demonstrating their commitment to transparency and accountability.
- Viewed the “October H8te” Film shown at the Warwick Theater to show support for the Jewish community.
- Viewed materials and webinars sponsored by or supported by the MTA and also viewed the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination (MCAD) hearing on antisemitism — choosing to be informed by the facts.
- Participated in a community vigil for Yaron Lischinsky and Sara Milgram, standing in solidarity with those affected by hatred and violence.
- Advocated for inclusive, legally sound educational practices that protect every student and safeguard the district from costly legal consequences.
- Fought and will continue to fight to create a school culture that reflects the entire Marblehead community, not just those who are most vocal.
Over the past year or so, words have been weaponized and facts distorted. Sarah Fox has put in the hard work, made difficult decisions, and stayed true to what is best for Marblehead Schools and the Marblehead Community.
Vote for Sarah because her actions. She already has a proven record of standing up for what is right. Re-elect Sarah Fox to the Marblehead School Committee.
