Marblehead Arts Association (MAA), a cornerstone of the local arts community, is thrilled to announce its upcoming Arts In Bloom event: a celebration of creativity where art and nature intertwine. This unique display will take place on June 6-8 at the King Hooper Mansion.
Arts In Bloom pairs stunning works of art with exquisite floral arrangements inspired by the pieces on show. Local artists and florists will collaborate to create a sensory experience that highlights the beauty of both mediums. Visitors can expect to see a variety of works, including paintings, sculptures, and mixed-media pieces complemented by custom floral designs.
The event will also feature “Dueling Designers,” where artists Ginny von Rueden and Laurie Boggis will use the same floral resources and will work side-by-side in front of an audience to create two unique arrangements inspired by the same work of art.
“We’re very excited to bring Arts In Bloom to our community, showcasing the incredible synergy between visual art and floral design,” MAA Executive Director Xhazzie Kindle said. “This event is a perfect opportunity for art and nature lovers alike to experience creativity in a fresh, inspiring way.
“Admission to the galleries to see the current exhibit and Arts In Bloom is free. However, the Dueling Designers is a ticketed event with proceeds supporting the MAA. Refreshments will be served, and the floral arrangements will be offered as door prizes.”
Von Reuden and Boggis of the Driftwood Garden Club have led many workshops and participated in Art In Bloom at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, for several years. They are also co-coordinators of the highly popular, annual King Hooper Mansion Christmas decorating, in which all local garden clubs are invited to participate. These decorations can be seen throughout the month of December.
