Despite Monday’s snowfall, many showed up to honor Martin Luther King Jr. at Marblehead Racial Justice Team’s (MRJT) inaugural MLK Community Breakfast at Old North Church.
MRJT has dedicated itself to dismantling racism in Marblehead and the larger world, according to their social media. The breakfast acted as a time to lift spirits and grow the conversation on racial justice.
There were multiple singing performances at the event, including “This Little Light of Mine” and readings of Amanda Gorman’s poetry. Gorman is a poet and activist advocating for racial equality, gender equality, and the environment.
There was also a conversation being held at breakfast about what changes can be made now that can impact the world as a whole.
