Marblehead Little Theatre has announced auditions for “Mystic Pizza,” a musical based on the 1988 romantic comedy film by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer under the same name.
“Mystic Pizza” is a new musical about three working class girls who navigate the complexities of life, love and family in a small town pizza joint. The score features well-known hits of the 80s and 90s like “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” and “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now.”
“It’s going to be a real fun, feel-good musical experience for the audience and the cast,” said Erin Pelikhov, marketing committee chair. “If you’re into very lighthearted, fun atmospheres, but still (like having) pretty relevant things to the coming-of-age story, that’s the kind of musical this is.”
This musical is produced by Christopher King and Emily Black, directed by Steve Black and Associate Director Katie Meuse, music direction is by Lianne Bunting and choreography by Autumn Blazon-Brown.
Auditions will be held March 30 from 1-2:30 p.m. or 3:30-5 p.m. Actors should sign up for a singing time slot and be prepared to attend a dance call from 2:45-3:30 p.m. Callbacks will take place on April 13 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
