The Marblehead Police Department proudly shared that Chief Dennis King has been honored by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) New England with a Community Service Leadership Award.
Chief King was recognized on Wednesday, May 14, at the Kernwood Country Club in Salem among four honorees recognized during the ADL of New England’s Essex County Law and Education Day.
The honor recognizes consistent efforts by Chief King and the Marblehead Police Department to spread the message that hate is not welcome in the Marblehead community.
Also honored at the event were Swampscott Police Chief Ruben Quesada, Swampscott Superintendent of Schools Pamela R.H. Angelakis, and Pentucket Regional School District Assistant Superintendent Brent Conway. A keynote address was provided by state Rep. Simon Cataldo and state Sen. John Velis, co-chairs of the Special Commission on Combatting Antisemitism.
“I am proud to be recognized by the ADL of New England, but I share all the credit for this honor with the entire Marblehead Police Department,” King said. “We serve our community each day guided by our core values of respect, dignity, and fairness, and above all that hatred should never be tolerated. The successful investigative work of the Marblehead and Swampscott Police Departments together on hateful incidents that crossed communities acts as a critical multiplier against antisemitism.”
