Marblehead’s girls lacrosse team defeated Danvers, 17-5, Monday and was led by Maddie Forbes, who netted six goals, including the 100th of her career.
Ramona Gillett (3 goals), Gretchen Smith (3), Kathryn Commoss (2), Zoe Dwyer (2), and Ella McConnell chipped in goals, too, while Molly Bullard made six saves in net.
Despite an 11-4 defeat Saturday, Marblehead trailed by just a goal at halftime against Bishop Fenwick. Leading the Magicians were Commoss (2 goals), Smith (goal, assist), Caitlyn Ryan (goal), Dwyer (assist), and Bullard (7 saves).
Earlier in the week, behind Forbes’ six-goal performance, her Magicians squeezed past the Beverly Panthers, 14-13, on enemy turf. This time, Gillett tucked her 100th career goal.
“Play as a team, win as a team,” said Marblehead Coach Annie Madden. “We play hard, pretty lacrosse. The defense was strong and made the difference against a strong, fast Beverly team.”

The Prep (13-1) spread out the offensive wealth en route to a four-goal win against host Malden Catholic. Goals were scored by Thomas Randall, Jackson Quigley, Mac Crawford, Cam McCarthy, Sam Kelly, and Nolan Convey. Chase Kenyon won 7 of 11 face-offs, while Sam Pruell made three key saves.

The Magicians picked up a road victory against the Falcons. Reece Moore scored five goals and provided two assists, while Sean Dolan scored a hat trick and dished out an assist. Colin Maniaci kept the Falcons at bay, making eight saves.
Danvers was led by Connor Harvey, who scored a hat trick, as well as Tyler Moody, who scored twice. Aidan Perry made nine saves between the pipes.

La Salle Academy 13
With 10 first-half goals, The Prep (12-1) enjoyed an out-of-state road win Saturday, taking down La Salle Academy (R.I.) by a goal. Will Crawford was the difference-maker and won 23 of 25 face-offs, while Quigley (2 goals) netted the game-winner with 30 seconds remaining. Josh Haarmann, Will Crawford, Beckett Lee, McCarthy, and Luke Kelly all scored twice.

Moore (4 assists), Will Sullivan, Tyler Forbes, and James Achterhof compiled hat tricks to lead the Magicians, who received nine saves from Maniaci and four points from Dolan.

Marblehead’s Abbie Goodwin was locked in from the moment she got on the court, as she battled to a 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), 6-0 win at third singles. Then, with the match tied, 2-2, all the pressure was on the second doubles team of Josie Reers and Caroline Bruett. The duo won the match 7-5, 6-3 for an impressive win over Masconomet.
The other win came at first doubles, in which Lani Gilmore and Reese Friedman won their match 6-2, 6-3.
“I like the improvements I am seeing from our players as we move to the end of our season with some very challenging matches ahead of us,” said Marblehead Coach Tracy Ackerman. “Beating former state champion Masco will certainly give us confidence moving forward.”

Fenwick jumped out to 3-0 and 5-0 leads en route to a victory against visiting Marblehead. Andrew Kiricoples (2 H, RBI) led the Crusaders offensively, while Colin Churches earned the win after striking out five Magicians across four innings. Rory Zampese impressed for Marblehead with a pair of hits, while Carter Sahagian punched out five batters from the bump.
