Roundup: Girls hoopsters stay hot

Marblehead’s girls basketball team upped its record to 4-1 with a 41-28 home win against Shawsheen Valley Tech. After a season-opening loss in Danvers, Marblehead has put together a four-game winning streak against Beverly, Saugus, Revere, and Shawsheen behind coach Paul Moran. The Magicians take the court Monday at Masconomet High with tip-off slated for 6:30 against the Chieftains (3-1).

In the consolation game of the Cape Ann Savings Bank Holiday Hockey Tournament, Marblehead fell despite Holden Ferreira scoring his first varsity goal. Ryan Angilly also found the back of the net, while Bowden Laramie (24 saves) made the all-tournament team.

St. John’s Prep 7
Boston College High 0

St. John’s Prep — with its custom Pete Frates Winter Classic uniforms — handled Boston College High with ease at Essex Sports Center in Middleton. In a 7-0 final, The Prep upped its record to 2-0-1.

Marblehead defended home ice with a five-goal win Sunday. The Lady Headers were paced by Lillian Wilkins (2 goals, assist) and Grace Robinson (2 assists).
