If you like goals, Monday’s Northeastern Conference matchup was the game to watch as Marblehead’s boys hockey team squeaked by the Gloucester Fisherman in a 5-4 final at Talbot Rink.
Marblehead struck first after Will Sullivan found the back of the net, but 16 seconds later, Cam Amero equalized the scoring to make it 1-1 after the first period. In the second, Marblehead’s Hayden Gallo scored less than a minute into the period before Kyle Hart added the Headers’ third to make it 3-1.
Gloucester got a goal back to make it 3-2 before the end of the second period.
From there, Cade Cooper tied it for Gloucester in the third period, but with less than three minutes left in the game, Teddy Dulac scored for the Headers.
Continuing the back-and-forth theme, it took less than 30 seconds for Gloucester to equalize with Cooper scoring again. That said, Marblehead hit Gloucester with its own medicine, scoring 30 seconds after the Fishermen had equalized it to make it 5-4, the eventual final score.
