School and meet records aplenty

May 21, 2025 by Joey Barrett

KINGSTON — In Saturday morning’s Division 3 MSTCA Relays at Silver Lake Regional High, the Marblehead boys finished eighth (31 points) and girls 13th (13.5) against some of the state’s top competition. Reading Memorial (boys) and Billerica Memorial (girls) were meet winners.

The morning featured meet and school records from the Magicians.

In historic fashion, Will Cerrutti (1,200m), Henrik Adams (400m), Jacob Szalewics (800m), and Nate Assa (1,600m) broke a 13-year meet record of 10:31 with a time of 10:28.17 in the distance medley relay.

“This is an all-time relay lineup stacked with state champions that set out on a mission to make history – and they did so,” said Marblehead Coach Nolan Raimo.

Sarah Munroe, Norah Walsh, Ruby Assa, and Marrietta O’Connell broke a MHS record in the 4×1,600m relay with a time of 23:17.00 to finish fifth overall.

“This group has contributed a lot to the girls’ team this spring and was a significant contributor to the NEC (Northeastern Conference) regular-season title,” Raimo said. “They are all returning next year and they’ll have a chance to set an impressive school record.”

Slater Johnson, Ryan Corrigan, Julien Poitevin, and Jacob Bobowski broke another school record – this one in the 4x200m relay (8th; 1:34.69).

“We only have one opportunity a year to compete in this relay and Slater, Ryan, Julien, and Jacob took advantage to set school history,” Raimo said.

Clark Roszell (5-10), Seamus Crowley (5-8), and Alexander Humphreys (5-4) took home a silver medal in the high jump relay, falling short to Milton, “an incredibly strong high jump squad,” according to Raimo.

Lillian Reddy finished 12th in shot put with a throw of 28-11.75. On the boys’ side, Logan McRae-Hughes set a new personal record of 35-9.5 to finish 28th.

As for discus, Reddy set a new personal best with a throw of 90-2 to finish eighth. From there, the javelin squad of Graham Firestone, Phineas Jakious, and Humphreys landed on the podium with a bronze medal. The shuttle hurdle squad of Nate Jendrysik, Brady Leveroni, Elian Colon, and Noah Jackson sprinted to a sixth-place finish in 1:10.14.
