October 22, 2025 by Joey Barrett

PEABODY — Records were out the window between the Marblehead and Peabody football teams Friday night. The Tanners (0-6) gave the Magicians (6-0) a good fight at Coley Lee Field, but Marblehead turned it up late en route to a 35-14 Northeastern Conference victory.

Marblehead’s Finn Gallup (265 yards passing, 65 yards rushing) collected three total touchdowns, Brayden Callahan (169 yards rushing) rushed twice for scores, receiver Madden Lyons (7 catches, 112 yards) made a big difference in the passing game, and both Tim Wales and Trent Brown caught touchdown passes.

As for Peabody – which had the game tied, 14-14, in the second half – Cory Dooley and Mark Mendonca scored touchdowns. Quarterback Luke Maglione completed 12 passes for 77 yards with a touchdown and an interception, while receiver Jack Smith hauled in four balls for 34 yards.

This season, coach Jim Rudloff and his Magicians have outscored opponents, 200-76. They’ve collected wins against Lynn English, Bishop Fenwick, Shepherd Hill, North Andover, Beverly, and now Peabody.

Next up for Marblehead is Friday’s road game against Masconomet beginning at 6:30 p.m. From there, the Red and Black host Danvers Friday, Oct. 31 at 7 p.m.
