The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui
Written in the 1930s, set in the 1920s, Bertolt Brecht’s epic gangster play was conceived to warn America about the preciousness of democracy. Through powerful, transparent allegory, Brecht shows us the path of an ordinary grifter as he rises from obscurity to the pinnacle of power. This satire is a dark commentary on the perils of unchecked power. Twelve performances at Marblehead Little Theatre run from Sept. 27 to Oct. 13.
