The Marblehead Fire Department is proud to announce a generous donation from Wayne Alarm Systems, which has provided 25 new smoke detectors to support the department’s Senior S.A.F.E. (Student Awareness of Fire Education) Program.
This contribution will allow firefighters to install smoke detectors in the homes of local senior residents — free of charge — helping ensure that some of Marblehead’s most vulnerable community members are protected from the dangers of fire.
“Our senior population is especially at risk when it comes to home fire safety,” said Greg Lydon, who oversees the Senior S.A.F.E. program. “Thanks to Wayne Alarm Systems’ generosity, we can make sure more of our residents have working smoke detectors — something that truly saves lives.”
The Senior S.A.F.E. program, in partnership with the Marblehead Council on Aging, provides home safety visits, fire prevention education, and information on services available to our older adult population throughout Marblehead. The program is part of the Department of Fire
Services initiative to reduce fire risks and support independent living among seniors. Wayne Alarm Systems’ donation reflects a strong partnership between local businesses and public safety efforts in the community.
