Marblehead Little Theatre (MLT) is hosting a free reading of Anne Marilyn Lucas’ 2016 play “From Silence” on Tuesday, May 28 at 7 p.m. The reading will be followed by a discussion about antisemitism and the current war in the Middle East led by Rabbi David Meyer, formerly of Temple Emanu-El, and Rev. Clyde Elledge of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church.
“From Silence,” a journey of a Holocaust survivor finding her voice, was originally produced at at the Theatre for the New City in 2016, and was performed at Marblehead Little Theatre in 2017. It was also produced at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York City in 2018, and at Gloucester Stage in 2019. Anne Marilyn Lucas is a former professor of drama at Salem State University, a board member at MLT, and also a frequent performer.
The reading of “From Silence” will be directed by Gale Argentine, who will also act as hostess for the evening. The cast features Sharon Mason, Alex Alexander, Nora Falk, and Meghan Holtz from the 2017 MLT production, as well as Becky Ruccio, Lauren Abramson, Alexa Leahy, Arianna Leahy, Anya Kane, Sarah Cowell, and Jennifer Hurley.
The reading and discussion are free and open to the entire community.
