The Marblehead Chamber of Commerce announces its 72nd Annual Meeting and 2024 Community Awards Celebration. The event will be held on Thursday, Sept. 26, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Corinthian Yacht Club in Marblehead. Join the Chamber to honor the 2024 award recipients: Dave Rodgers, The Harbor Light Inn, Teresa Collins, Jordan’s Launch, The Abbot Public Library Foundation, and Bette Hunt.

Join Marblehead Counseling Center for an evening of community and laughter at the Gerry 5. Event emcee Mark Scalia will be joined by stand-up comedians Kathe Farris and event headliner Kelly MacFarland. The event benefits the Marblehead Counseling Center. The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui
Written in the 1930s and set in the 1920s, Bertolt Brecht’s epic gangster play was conceived to warn America about the preciousness of democracy. Through powerful, transparent allegory, Brecht shows the path of an ordinary grifter as he rises from obscurity to the pinnacle of power. This satire is a dark commentary on the perils of unchecked power. Twelve performances will be held at Marblehead Little Theatre from Sept. 27 to Oct. 13.

MarbleShred

Marblehead Bank will be holding its MarbleShred event, a free community shredding event for the public, on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 9 a.m. to noon. The event will be held in the parking lot of their 21 Atlantic Ave. office in Marblehead. Shredding confidential documents is one of the easiest ways to protect yourself from identity theft. The bank will also host a food drive to benefit the Marblehead Food Pantry. The event will be held rain or shine.
Sustainability Fair
10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Experience fun and learning for the whole family at the Sustainability Fair. Test drive EVs, learn about bike safety in a children’s bike rodeo, explore green technology for your home, discover ways to reduce waste, create fun children’s crafts, hear from expert speakers, and more. Visit with many nonprofits to learn about their efforts to protect the planet and speak to businesses offering green solutions for a brighter future. Listen to musical guests, The Old Men of Marblehead, for a bit of country and Americana. This is one fall fair you won’t want to miss.
Move4Heather Pickleball Tournament
On Saturday, Sept. 28, and Sunday, Sept. 29, Friends of Marblehead Basketball are hosting a weekend-long tournament for Heather’s Fund at Dana-Farber. The Move4Heather Pickleball Tournament is at Veterans Middle School.
Living History in the Lee Mansion
10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
In the 1830s, poverty and homelessness were an epidemic. In this living history program at the Jeremiah Lee Mansion, Meghan Boehmer will portray a Marblehead woman who, having lost her husband and income, finds no alternative but to go to the poor farm with her young children. Hear about how Marblehead helped care for poor and vulnerable working-class citizens. This program is sponsored by the Marblehead Cultural Council.
Card Readings in the Garden

Enjoy the high-vibration, healing energy, and beauty of Ellen Epstein’s Sculpture and Sensation Garden, and receive an intuitive tarot and oracle card reading from Peyton Pugmire, spiritual intuitive. Meet the artist and owner, Ellen Epstein, and peruse her one-of-a-kind glass sculptures, high-energy glass pyramids, and crystal glass suncatchers, which are all for sale. Wander freely in the healing garden and toss coins in the fountain, play with bubbles, meditate, draw, color, and more.

Music in the Garden: Joe Berkovitz Trio

On Sunday, Sept. 29, listen to music in the garden at 10 Central St. in Marblehead. The garden has shaded seating, and chairs are supplied. Reserved seating ensures your location for a season of joy. Family area available. You can appear before 2 p.m. and take your chances with seating. Bring beverages and nibbles. Leave a note in the mailbox at 10 Central St., telling Margi your dates and the number of people in your party. Payment via check or cash. Bring cash if appearing on concert day. Cacao Ceremony & Sound Healing

Lisa Kawski will incorporate a sacred cacao ceremony with sound healing. Knotted Jewelry with Leather or Silk
6 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Knotting is a skill every jewelry maker needs to know. In this class, Eos Designs Studio will cover knotting basics, and students will learn how to properly knot cording between beads, making either a spaced or continuous bead necklace or knotted bracelet. You may choose traditional silk-style knotting, knotting with large hole beads and leather, or mala-style knotting. The cost is $24, plus materials.
