The town is commemorating this year’s Veterans Day with a number of events happening in Marblehead this weekend.
On Friday, Congressman Seth Moulton will be hosting his ninth annual Veterans Town Hall at Abbot Hall. The event will take place at 3 p.m. inside the Abbot Hall auditorium. The event serves as a “platform for veterans to share their stories of service and sacrifice with their communities,” according to a statement from Moulton’s office. Veterans of any era who have served in any capacity are invited to share their stories, both before and after their service, amongst neighbors and friends. Non-veterans are also encouraged to attend to listen and connect with veterans in their community. Moulton, an Iraq War veteran, will provide remarks along with a number of other guest speakers.
On Saturday, the town will hold a Veterans Day service at Abbot Hall starting at 10 a.m. in the auditorium. A shuttle service from the National Grand Bank Parking lot will be available starting at 9 a.m. and ending at 9:45 a.m.
Also on Saturday, the Beacon will be holding a Wreaths Across America fundraiser event to raise money for the organization’s annual event, in which wreaths are laid on the graves of every veteran in Marblehead, on Dec. 16. Doors to the restaurant open at 4 p.m. before the event begins at 6 p.m. Guest speaker Gen. David McKiernan will be in attendance and a number of activities will be held, including a silent auction, 50/50 raffles, and entertainment provided by the Guy Ford Band. Dinner reservations are required for table seating. For more information, visit thebeaconmarblehead.com.
The Marblehead VFW will also be holding its own veterans service at 5 p.m. Saturday. All veterans are welcome and Army stew will be served immediately following the service.
