The town will host its first-ever pickleball tournament on April 27 and 28 at Marblehead Veterans Middle School.
All the Marblehead Pickleball fundraiser proceeds will go toward Fund The Field.
“Since the pickleball courts opened at the Bets in 2019 and expanded to Seaside in 2022, we have solidified Marblehead as the epicenter,” Lisa Spinale of Marblehead Pickleball said. “We have never had a tournament, and I’m excited to announce our first!”
Spinate said that the tournament is for anyone, including those who have never played or competed in an event, and that it is the perfect opportunity for them to do so for the first time. There will also be competitions for seasoned vets and players at higher levels.
Partners are not required, and there will be 90 minutes of guaranteed playing time. The cost is $60 for each participant per day. Participants can register for one or both days, and the registration fee includes a shirt.
Winners will also be selected at the end of each session and medals will be awarded.
“There is a vibe in Marblehead about pickleball, and we want to share that experience with everyone,” Spinale said. “We also promise our players that we love and respect that they have a great tournament experience.”
