The 58th annual Festival of Arts will unveil new events this year and will be running from its opening on June 30 until July 7.
“We can’t wait to welcome visitors to Marblehead for this year’s festival,” Festival President Jodi-Tatiana Charles said. “Marblehead isn’t just a place you pass through; it’s a destination worth exploring. Our festival is a gathering of our community and a warm invitation to all who come for our traditional and newer activities.”
The festival, which has been held since 1962, hosts a wide range of art exhibits in mediums such as painting, sculpture, photography, and drawing. It also features events such as outdoor music concerts overlooking Marblehead Harbor, a literary festival, a street festival, children’s and boat-building activities, and an artisans’ marketplace.
New at this year’s festival will be the 10K road race, which will take runners and walkers on a scenic tour of Marblehead, showcasing the town’s charm and beauty while celebrating art through movement, according to the event’s press release.
At the event, there will also be an Art Vending Machine, allowing visitors to purchase unique pieces of art in a fun and accessible manner.
The BIG NAZO LAB will present a “Mask & Helmet-Head” fabrication workshop to provide an educational opportunity for attendees to engage in hands-on art-making.
The event will feature an International Art Exhibit with hopes to bring a global perspective by showcasing an array of artworks from around the world. Visitors will have the opportunity to appreciate different cultural expressions and artistic styles.
The Silent Book Reading Party will offer a unique and tranquil experience for book lovers. Attendees can enjoy a peaceful atmosphere while diving into their favorite books, making it a perfect addition to the festival’s varied lineup of events, according to the release.
“Events like ours don’t just showcase the arts; they also support local businesses, from retail to restaurants. It’s heartening to see our community unite for the love of art, and we’re confident that this year’s festival will be our best one yet,” Charles added.
