Join Jarrett Zeman for an hour-long tour of downtown Marblehead focused on trailblazing women from the 1860s to the 1920s. You’ll discover the stories of courageous women who helped end slavery, fought for women’s rights, saw the world on their bicycles, and made a few movies along the way. Tour begins at 238 Washington St. Admission is $15 per person.
Saturday, Aug. 3, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.: Marblehead Museum’s Cultivating History
Explore the beautiful gardens of the Lee Mansion, which have been faithfully maintained by the Marblehead Garden Club since 1936. Learn about the museum’s period-appropriate plants and discover what uses — culinary, medicinal, and cosmetic — they had. Test your scavenger hunt skills for a chance to win a prize! Make your very own Victorian thaumatrope. Kids (and kids-at-heart) will love coloring botanical prints, planting seeds to take home, and taking part in other hands-on activities. Make the most of your visit by packing a picnic lunch to enjoy on the grounds! Admission will be $5 per individual and $10 per family (up to four people). Children ages 2 and younger can attend for free.
