To the editor:
I refer to the commentary by Harry Litman regarding the Supreme Court. Unfortunately, he paints a bleak but accurate picture of our earlier SCOTUS, now a MAGA court. The rulings of this court are frightening, at least to someone seeking balanced and non-partisan rulings. Alito and Thomas are so blatantly biased toward conservative views they should be viewed as cheerleaders for the conservative right. We non-MAGAs should look with dread as to what comes next from this court. If Trump is elected and Congress becomes a MAGA stronghold, I think our country is doomed. The three Vs will prevail — vendetta, vitriol, and vengeance. Not only domestically, but internationally we will be destroyed. NATO, Ukraine, and such will be jettisoned. Trump will favor dictators like Putin of Russia and Orban of Hungary.
We cannot un-elect the current MAGA court, but we sure can prevent Trump and his minions from completing the destruction of our democracy. Never, ever in my life have I been so frightened as to the direction of our country.
