By the week’s end, Piper Field will have its turf project completed and the next phase of putting in new lighting will begin. The 100% privately funded project cost more than $800,000.
Marblehead All-Sports Boosters Executive Advisor Muffy Paquette said there were four main components to the fundraising.
“National Grand Bank gave a huge donation, followed by the Boosters. Youth sports contributed quite a bit and, finally, individual private donations,” Paquette said.
Paquette noted that the project would not have been as successful without two people in particular.
“Victoria Dosch and Lauren Andriano were instrumental in organizing events and fundraisers,” she said. “I love this community, how it rallies behind things. The field is for all to enjoy.”
Paquette said that with most of the big projects done, it’s back to business as usual for the Boosters, supporting all the teams. The Boosters raise funds for things like scholarships, football helmets, and volleyballs.
The field will be ready to use by the beginning of the school year. Football, soccer, and field-hockey players will be the first to try out the new turf.
