The Marblehead Task Force Against Discrimination will be observing 35 years since being established by the Select Board. In observance of these many years of fighting discrimination in our community and the Task Force’s “commitment to ensure that Marblehead is a respectful, supportive, welcoming, and inclusive community for its many diverse citizens and visitors,” the Task Force will be holding a 35th anniversary weekend.
On Saturday, Sept. 7, the Task Force will have a booth at the Farmer’s Market offering information and handouts. There will be a craft project for children. On Sunday, Sept. 8 at 1 p.m. there will be the screening of the 2017 film “Wonder” generously donated by the Warwick Cinema. Admission is free. It is about a young boy and the difficulty he overcomes.
Later that afternoon, a Multicultural Dance Event for all ages — children to adults — will be held at the Jacobi Community Center in the gym from 4 to 5:30 pm. There will be professional dance instruction with Greg Coles and his team leading African and Latin dancing. There will also be Israeli dancing. It will be a fun, interactive afternoon. Again, admission is free.
The Task Force looks forward to the town coming out to celebrate this milestone and the diversity of our community. The Marblehead Task Force Against Discrimination has worked through its 35 years to be true to its mission of acceptance of all members and visitors of Marblehead.
