Aug. 31, 2024 marks the 200th anniversary of when Marie-Joseph Paul Yves Roch Gilbert du Motier de La Fayette — better known as the Marquis de Lafayette — visited Marblehead.
While much has been made about the return of Marquis — see A1 — many other historical figures have also visited Marblehead.
At the center of these visits, oftentimes, was the Jeremiah Lee Mansion, which hosted “Lafayette’s” 200-year return.
