Marblehead hosted its sixth, and final, MHD Cruise In for the summer Tuesday night.
Motor vehicles of all shapes, sizes, and ages parked in the Riverhead Beach parking lot to be swarmed by people enjoying the final nights of warm weather.
Hidden in the corner was 12-year-old Calvin Bennett, of Marblehead, and his race-winning 2005 Stanley 120cc engine and 2024 Briggs and Stratton X-Wing 206cc engine.
“I just always liked NASCAR, and I found out that this existed, so I told my parents and they were all for it,” he said.
Bennett has been racing since he was 10 years old.
“You feel like you’re going a million miles per hour because you’re so close to the ground,” Bennett said.
“I just love passing the other cars. It’s such a fun experience just being in the lead,” he added. “I just want to win the track championship for at least one of these cars. I want to get a couple regional series wins, hopefully. And I just want to be a professional race-car driver when I grow up.”
