The Arrangers Garden Club of Marblehead will host a public winter garden container workshop on Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 12:30 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center.
The event is open to the public free of charge. Participants will learn from Sarah Hitchcock of Payson Landscaping of Marblehead who will demonstrate how to make three different winter garden containers. Hitchcock specializes in designing colorful window boxes and has won multiple awards for her outstanding window boxes around town, according to organization secretary Pam Oppelt.
The Arrangers of Marblehead was established in 1933. Its objective is to study and create artistic floral and decorative arrangements, as well as to promote an interest in horticulture, conservation, and allied activities through education, preservation, and community service.
“I always wanted to learn about arranging flowers and I’ve learned a lot,” Oppelt previously told Marblehead Weekly News. “We do a lot of crafting things like making wreaths at Christmas time. …We try to do things to help the community and we’re pushing this year to get more members because we lost some during the pandemic.”
Light refreshments will be provided at the Nov. 16 event. While it is open to all members of the Marblehead community, event organizers request that attendees RSVP in advance by sending an email to sewing@jccns.com.
