INTERVIEWED:
Maeve Maguire, Board President of the Friends of the Park on Elm Street.
OCCUPATION:
I work in the University Development Office at Harvard on fundraising strategy for university wide initiatives and priorities.
LISTENING:
I would say that my music taste is eclectic — my Mom’s made sure we were exposed to all the good music from the 60’s and 70s like Crosby, Still, Nash & Young but I also love old school hip hop, and some newer bands….I’m very excited that Deer Tick is playing Marblehead in November!
WATCHING:
Love Downton Abbey, the Guilded Age, Curb, the Office and Parks and Rec. I also enjoyed the Bear (Hulu)
READING:
I read lot, and always in print. I really like Lauren Groff — Fates and Furies and her short story collections. Another favorite author is Ken Follett. Michael Pollan is a favorite too.
SOMETHING PEOPLE MAY OR MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT YOU OR YOUR CAREER:
I think there can be some misconceptions around fundraising. For me it’s a privilege to partner with people to help facilitate their support of important causes that are meaningful to them and that truly make the world a better place.
WHAT YOU ENJOY ABOUT MARBLEHEAD:
At times it feels like more of a village than a town and I think that’s unique. I feel so fortunate to have grown up here and I love raising my children with family nearby, surrounded by so much history and beauty.
WHAT YOU WOULD CHANGE ABOUT MARBLEHEAD?
I wish the Town had more funding at their disposal to improve and maintain spaces — like our schools and the Park on Elm!
