The November Poetry Salon will feature the poems of Susan Rich, author of six collections of poetry, most recently “Cloud Pharmacy” and “The Alchemist’s Kitchen.” Originally from the Boston area, Rich holds degrees from UMass and Harvard. She has worked as a staff person for Amnesty International, an electoral supervisor in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and a human rights trainer in Gaza and the West Bank. Rich lived in the Republic of Niger, West Africa as a Peace Corps Volunteer, later moving to South Africa to teach at the University of Cape Town. She lives in Seattle and teaches at Highline College. Her poems are the product of her travels and her wide experience.

Express yourself by decorating your stuff! Spend time in the new Thompson Makerspace and make your own buttons. Choose from a range of templates, use pictures from magazines or create your own design to turn into a magnet or pin.
Kids Craft Afternoon
3:30 p.m.—4:30 p.m.
Killam Children’s Room (101)
Children of any age and caregivers can visit the Children’s Room between 3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. to make a craft to take home. Working freely with crafts enhances pre-literacy in children with practice in sequencing steps, hand-eye coordination, etc. Look for Thanksgiving-themed crafts this month. No registration required.

Join up with fellow board gamers for a round of play! Meet new players, revisit an old favorite game, or learn to play something new. All games and needed parts as well as refreshments will be provided by the library.
