Executive Director of the Marblehead Museum Lauren McCormack discussed woodwork repair at the property of 157 Washington St, the Lee Brick Kitchen building at the latest Old and Historic Districts Commission meeting.
McCormack sought permission to repair the sign for the building and discussed what type of wood or material to use.
The intention in a historic building repair is to use natural materials instead of composite materials, in order to preserve as much of the original material as possible, she emphasized during the meeting.
The Commission unanimously approved her request for alterations to the historic property.
[Editors note: There was no discussion about rearranging letters on the building. Discussions focused solely on the appropriate material to be used. Ultimately, wood was selected for the sign.]
