Abstract Painting Weekend

September 3, 2025 by For The Weekly News

Abstract Painting Weekend
Friday, Sept 5th through Sunday, Sept 7th
Marblehead Arts Association | 8 Hooper Street, Marblehead

Unleash your creativity by trying abstract painting at the Marblehead Arts Association! After a meet-and-greet on Friday evening, the class will start with a black and white abstract, then continue on Saturday and Sunday with painting intuitively, expressively, and getting messy. Working on several paintings and various sized canvases, students will work together and make each painting a wonderful experiment – and lesson – on this journey towards non-representational painting. Fasten your seatbelts for a fun-filled weekend!
Instructor Arnie Casavant works in studio and en plein air, and his work reflects a strong emphasis on the interplay of light, shape and color and a devotion to impressionism. Arnie attended UMass Dartmouth, courtesy of the GI Bill, then spent 27 years teaching high school art and later, landscape and abstract painting through Northeastern’s Graduate Institute in Education. Tickets: MAA Members: $300. Non-members: $325. https://marbleheadarts.org/abstract-painting-weekend/
