Linda Lea Bertrand’s ocean-inspired art sails to Cloister Gallery

September 24, 2025 by Amanda Lurey

Linda Lea Bertrand’s exhibit “Along the Coast” is sailing up the coast from the Abbot Public Library to the Cloister Gallery at St. Andrew’s Church. The show will run from Sunday, Oct. 5 through Sunday, Nov. 30. The show will open with a reception on Sunday, Oct. 5 from 11 a.m.-12 p.m.

The ocean captivated Lea Bertrand’s heart since childhood sailing excursions, summer days at the beach, and later spending many days on her own sailboat. Always changing and endless, the ocean inspires, fascinates, engages, and energizes.

While sailing, Lea Bertrand watched the glittering light reflecting off the water and dreamed of being able to paint that light on the water. And she started to paint. Painting along the coast merges the meditative feeling of painting with the meditative feeling she always got from the ocean.

Lea Bertrand is a Marblehead plein air painter. Besides seascapes, she also paints landscapes and portraits. She is a member of Marblehead, North Shore, Rockport Arts, and Laguna Plein Air Arts associations, where she displays her work. Her paintings are available on her website lindaleapainting.com, and she can also be contacted via social media.

The Cloister Gallery at St. Andrew’s Church is located at 135 Lafayette St., Marblehead. The Gallery hours are Monday-Thursday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. The Gallery is handicapped accessible. For more information, call (781) 631-4951 or visit standrewsmhd.org/cloistergallery.html.
