At this past weekend’s All-State Championship, Marblehead had its time in the spotlight with several Magicians impressing.
Cate Trautman tied a 15-year school record with a time of 26.24 in the 200m, finishing 16th in the entire state.
“Cate’s final individual race for Marblehead track was unsurprisingly a tremendous success — like so many other races she’s ran in the black and red,” Marblehead coach Nolan Raimo said.
In the girls 2-mile, Marri O’Connell had one of the most “tenacious races of her short, yet impressive, career” according to Raimo. She finished sixth with a time of 11:24.71.
Keira Sweetnam finished 14th in high jump with a clearance of 5-2.
“Keira capped her high school track career as one of the best jumpers we’ve seen in the past 20-plus years,” Raimo said.
And in the 4x100m, Ava Machado, Trautman, Sadie Halpern, and Le’Daisha Williams took home fourth place in the state, punching a ticket to the New England Championships this weekend in Maine.
“Along the way, they surpassed a 10-year-old school record by nearly two seconds, and honestly, a sub-50s 4x100m time may stick in the books for years to come,” Raimo said.
