Elaine Purdy’s Picks:
OCCUPATION: Happily retired since 2016 after 42 years in the studio and theatre industry, I have kept busy working part-time at several great shops in town (Stowaway Sweets, Marblehead Knits, The Spotted Hound, The Bus Stop and the past two years at Liberty, Henry & Me). I’m kind of the “Where’s Waldo” of Marblehead!
LISTENING: Amos Lee, Chris Stapleton, and the ever-incredible Melody Gardot.
WATCHING: “The Offer” on Paramount+, “Rabbit Hole” on Paramount+. “The Capture” on Paramount+, “Severance” on Apple TV, and “Blackbird” on Amazon, Disney+, Max, Hulu, and Apple+.
READING: Just finished my all-time favorite, Robert McCammon’s “Boy’s Life” for the second time, and now reading James B. Stewart and Rachel Abrams’ “Unscripted.”
SOMETHING PEOPLE MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT YOU: I met the love of my life, Bob, through divine intervention (wink-wink) 26 years ago.
WHAT YOU ENJOY ABOUT MARBLEHEAD: Only one? Having grown up here, and now living in my family home, I’ve come to appreciate and recognize the true “Norman Rockwell” essence of this town. Granted, much has changed over the decades, since growing up here in the ’50s and ’60s, but it still retains its small-town character, inspiring history, and jaw-dropping beauty at every single turn. I am a very grateful ‘header.
