Marblehead all-stars:
Ruby Calienes – Softball – Junior
Calienes was pivotal for the Magicians, finishing the year with seven wins on the mound. At the plate, the do-it-all performer batted .382 with 26 hits and 12 RBI.
Connor Cronin – Boys lacrosse – Senior
If Cronin is going to his right – anywhere across midfield – good luck. Of all his accomplishments, the most impressive was perhaps breaking a program record with points in a single season (131, 81 goals, 50 assists). The Magician was named a U.S. Lacrosse All-American, Player of the Year in the NEC, as well as Marblehead’s team MVP.
Baxter Jennings – Boys lacrosse – Senior
A faceoff ace at its finest, Jennings generated the majority of Marblehead’s goals this spring. He wasn’t bad across midfield, either, scoring 44 goals to go with 12 assists. A strong performance from Jennings included a six-goal night against Milton in the state tournament.
Finn Maniaci – Boys lacrosse – Senior
Not only did Maniaci show out in the Agganis Boys Lacrosse All-Star Game – robbing two goals in the first quarter – but impressed since the beginning of the spring. The Magician registered a .633 save percentage and went 21-1 for one of the state’s best programs.
Ramona Gillett – Girls lacrosse – Sophomore
Gillett was explosive from beginning to end this season. She ripped five goals against Gloucester, four against Salem, two against Ipswich, and the list goes on. The Magician had 33 goals in total alongside five assists, 18 ground balls, and 61 draw controls.
Sydney Langton – Girls lacrosse – Senior
One of the NEC’s best, Langton recorded 50 goals, 12 assists, and 48 draw controls. The all-conference performer sported a six-goal game against Masco, four-goal game against Gloucester, and scored her 100th career goal back in May. Well done, Sydney.
Mika Garber – Boys tennis – Junior
The NEC MVP did it again as Marblehead’s No. 1, going 15-3 and undefeated in his conference. In all his victories, he never needed a third set. He’s fast, he’s skilled, and next year, he’s set to be the Magicians’ captain.
Charly Cooper – Girls tennis – Senior
Cooper was named an NEC All-Star after an impressive season for the Magicians. She was named team captain this spring and finished the year with an 11-4 record, including a playoff singles victory against Milton.
Alex Hersey – Boys track and field – Junior
Coach Nolan Raimo loves to praise Hersey, and for good reason. The Magician placed fourth at the MSTCA North Decathlon and sported great scores in the 110mh (15.46), 400m (53.61), long jump (21-0), and triple jump (41-1).
Marrietta O’Connell – Girls track and field – Freshman
A freshman sensation. This spring, O’Connell placed ninth at New Balance Nationals in the freshman 2-mile and second in Division 3. The Magician also finished sixth at All-States with a personal record of 11:08.56 – much to the delight of Coach Nolan Raimo.
