Seaglass Village continues to meet the needs of its members who wish to age in place. On Sept. 8, Seaglass will celebrate the start of its third year with a gathering at Marblehead Little Theater (indoors and outdoors). Rumson’s Rum and Stateside’s Vodka will offer tastings. All That Jazz Trio will keep the 100+ members and invited guests swaying and smiling. Wine and beer and appetizers provided by area restaurants will be served.
Seaglass Village’s members receive help when needed from its volunteers. Some need rides to appointments or to do errands; others have household chores they need help with; some enjoy the social events. One recent request was for technical help linking a member’s laptop computer with her cell phone. Several months ago, a member asked for help in ridding her house of mice. A member new to Marblehead called asking if a volunteer would join her to take a walk. Regular requests include those for rides to grocery stores and doctor appointments.
Linda Garber, events committee chair, says, “Everyone in Marblehead, Nahant, and Swampscott who would like more information about Seaglass Village should call the office at 781-718-0401 or go to the Seaglass web site at www.seaglassvillage.org.”
