You know what I’ve been thinking? Even against top competition, great players play great. It was an up-and-down week for the Marblehead lacrosse team, which saw an upset win against Nauset to advance to the Final Four, then a defeat – its first of the season – days later against Duxbury.
Already the single-season point leader in program history, Cronin went to work against Nauset. In Marblehead’s 13-9 win, he tucked six goals – efficient as ever, also, with three in each half.
From power-play finishes to bruising his way through defenders, Cronin was a human highlight reel. By the end of the game, the Magicians remained perfect at 21-0.
That said, all good things come to an end. Marblehead was bested 12-4 by Duxbury, but you know who still shined. Cronin ripped two goals while dishing out two assists, not backing down against powerhouse Duxbury, and a few lightning delays.
What a season it was for the Magicians, and Northeastern Conference MVP Cronin. To one of the best players in program history, good week.
