You know what I’ve been thinking? Nine student-athletes from Salem State were named to the Little East Spring All-Academic Team, and one selection made Marblehead very, very proud.
Sophomore Trevor Gilligan of Marblehead sported a grade point average of 3.3 or higher during the spring semester, suited up for the boys lacrosse team as a goalie, and completed a full year academically and athletically.
On the turf, Gilligan forced three turnovers and racked up 24 ground balls across 17 games for the Vikings. Standout performances included 22-save showings against Thomas (ME) and MCLA, a 31-save game against Mass Maritime, and another 26 against UMass Boston. Not bad, Trevor.
As for Gilligan’s award, the Little East serves as New England’s top athletic conference for public institutions in Division III. According to the organization, it values passion, responsibility, sportsmanship, and citizenship.
Oddly enough, Gilligan never started at Marblehead High across his four years. That said, he’s shining now. Trevor, well done.
