Boys 10th, girls 16th in D3 championships

WESTFIELD — Marblehead High’s track and field teams competed in last weekend’s MIAA Division 3 track and field championships held at Alumni Field on the campus of Westfield State University. The boys (10th; 28 points) finished in the top 10, while the girls placed 16th with 21 points.

Walpole boys (75 points) and Billerica Memorial (92) girls were victorious.

First-place Marblehead finishers were Jacob Szalewicz (800m – 1:55.99), Will Cerrutti (mile – 4:18.28), and Paige Tredwell (high jump – 5-01.00).

Nate Assa finished second in the 2-mile with a time of 9:16.33, while Lucy Flynn compiled fifth- (200m – 25.89) and seventh-place finishes (100m – 12.54) in her respective events.

Tredwell also finished seventh in the 100m hurdles (15.86), while Marrietta O’Connell ran the 2-mile in 11:58.89 – good for 10th. Sarah Munroe finished eighth in the mile (5:18.94) and 10th in the 800m (2:25.26).
