The Clifton Lutheran Church is “so excited” to present its upcoming Jazz Night on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at 150 Humphrey St., which will benefit the Manna Project of the North Shore. The Manna Project of the North Shore helps to alleviate food insecurities.
Adria Smith and her quartet will be playing primarily jazz music based on the Great American Songbook. The instruments will include an electric piano, drums, bass and horn.
Smith composes jazz pieces and plays jazz piano professionally. She was named one of 10 finalists for the Grammys 2025 Music Educator Award in a pool of 215 nominees.
Due to winning numerous contests for her music, she was awarded a scholarship from Berklee College of Music and graduated with a degree in jazz composition.
Smith is the department head of the music and integrated arts team at Marblehead Charter Community Public School, where she was honored with the founding faculty award in 2011. She founded the MCCPS Musical Theater Program, Keyboard Lab, Chorus, Jazz Band and Honors Band performing groups — and she has been awarded many grants for technology, equipment, musical performances and more.
