Kelly Schneider and Colton Bozigian founded their jewelry business in Marblehead.

Coastal Caviar brings custom jewelry to the shore

December 19, 2023 by Benjamin Pierce

Kelly Schneider and Colton Bozigian are planning their wedding. However, the couple first tied the knot as business partners when they founded their own jewelry business earlier this month.

Coastal Caviar offers custom coastal-themed jewelry services to residents. The duo works out of their Marblehead home to produce and distribute their creations online. Schneider, a Marblehead native, turned her love for jewelry into a career at Alex & Ani, where she focused primarily on charm jewelry. Bozigian grew up in Rhode Island, and they both attributed their theme, along with the first part of their company’s name, to their mutual love for the ocean. However, the second part of the title did not come as easily.

“We thought maybe ‘coastal cowboy’ at first, and then we started just going down the alliteration path,” Bozigian said.

After Bozigian came up with “caviar,” Schneider realized that it might fit the brand they were trying to create.

“I actually thought it was genius,” Schneider said. “I loved the alliteration, and I loved that it gave us this kind of elevated vibe.”

She added that while they believe their product is of a high quality, it is equally accessible in terms of price.

Coastal Caviar has a standard selection that is always in stock, but the main focus of the business is its interactive customization.

“We just launched an online digital charm necklace builder where the consumer can scroll through 200 charms and design exactly how they want it to appear on their necklace,” Schneider said.

The couple discussed the effort they had put forth to complete all their holiday season orders while they both still have separate full-time jobs. Since launch, Schneider has been very satisfied with the community’s engagement and feedback.

“We’re really, really excited,” Schneider said. “We’ve had tons of orders from the Marblehead and Swampscott area. It’s really nice to see people supporting and being excited about a new local business.”

Bozigian said he only expected their customer base to be made up of friends and family at this point but was pleasantly surprised at the amount of business they have received in a short period of time.

While Schneider and Bozigian do not have a physical location yet, it is not something they have ruled out in the future. Schneider hopes to partner with local retail stores as soon as next spring. Their business can be found at https://shopcoastalcaviar.com/
