Election Day energy was surely in the air on Tuesday.
Throughout town, voters took to the polls to not only vote for the presidential election, but their local elections and statewide questions as well. Voting locations were at the Old Town House, Abbott Hall, and the Community Center Gym.
Each location held an election day energy ranging from calm and quiet to actively campaigning for candidates. At the community center, groups supporting both Republican Presidential Candidate Donald Trump, and Democratic Presidential Candidate Kamala Harris lined the entrance.
The republican party supporters were sure to be loud and proud as they waved at oncoming traffic getting honks from passing cars. They also played music and held their large banners and flags for all to see.
The democratic party supporters were more quiet, yet still made their voices heard. They had their large flags and gear in support and were also waving at oncoming traffic getting car horns honking in support as well.
At Abbot Hall, there were no signs of campaigning outside or around the location. Voters simply went inside the building, cast their votes, and proceeded to go about their day.
A couple of local voters expressed why they attended the polls that day.
Marblehead resident Greg McDonald said he was “just a person that votes in every election, and this is an important election.” He cast his votes at the Abbot Hall Tuesday afternoon.
Another Marblehead resident, Steven Roy put it simply, “I came to vote.” He added that being a part of a democracy requires voting, and that there aren’t many things we’re obliged to do, but voting is certainly one of them. Steven cast his votes at the Community Center.
