Please join me in congratulating Chief Dennis King and DPW head Amy McHugh. Last week they secured a grant worth tens of thousands of dollars from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation Safe Routes to Schools program. The money will be spent to install two new traffic calming signs around Marblehead Veterans Middle School. These radar-equipped signs are a proven way to reduce vehicle speeds and increase safety.
Thanks to the proactive and progressive efforts of these town officials, state and federal dollars are flowing into Marblehead. Our streets are safer and it’s not costing local taxpayers a dime.
