Early voting has started in Marblehead, with the state’s primary elections approaching on Tuesday, Sept. 3, and voters in town have started submitting their ballots.
There are 16,827 registered voters in Marblehead, out of the 5,033,189 in Massachusetts.
There were 4,049 vote-by-mail applications in town sent out and received by Aug 27. The total number of ballots cast in Marblehead was 1,532, representing a turnout of 9.1% for the town, which is greater than the state average of 8.4%.
There is still time for early, in-person voting at Abbot Hall. There will be opportunities to do so on Thursday, Aug. 29 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Friday, Aug. 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
So far, only 15 ballots have been cast in Marblehead for in-person early voting.
In Massachusetts as a whole, 997,688 vote-by-mail applications have been received.
The total amount of ballots cast in Massachusetts was 421,215.
Out of these totals, 345,588 people voted in the Democratic primary.
The Republican-primary vote trailed behind at 72,911, and 2,716 people had voted in the Libertarian primary.
