Elia Taverna joins Marblehead Chamber

March 26, 2025 by Amanda Lurey

Family-owned Greek restaurant Elia Taverna celebrated joining the Marblehead Chamber of Commerce with a ribbon-cutting ceremony March 19.

Restaurant owner Angelo Bido said Elia Taverna has had its doors open at 261 Washington St. for three years, and he felt that now was the right time to join the Chamber because “we’ve seen what the Marblehead Chamber does for the community over the last couple of years, and we really think it’s amazing what they participate in and what they do for the Marblehead community – and we wanted to be part of that.”

Bido said Elia Taverna has traditional Greek dishes that he grew up on, like moussaka and keftedakia, in addition to some Mediterranean dishes.

Elia Taverna is open from 4-9 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, and from 4-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The restaurant is closed on Mondays.

It also has some specials during the week. Oysters are $1/each from 4-6 p.m. every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Appetizers are half-off Wednesdays from 4-6 p.m. And there is also live music from 6-9 p.m. Thursday nights.

“I just think we offer a menu that nobody around her has,” Bido said. “The Mediterranean diet is the healthiest diet you can really eat, and we’re the only ones offering it in this area. Our customers even say it every time they eat our dishes, they go home, and they feel amazing. The food makes them feel healthier and better, and that’s really what we’re all about. That’s really what Mediterranean food is all about.”
