Elisa Smith, a Marblehead resident known for her soulful country sound and heartfelt lyrics, is set to perform a special, live concert at the historic Old North Church in Marblehead on April 5 at 7 p.m.
Marbleheaders may know her as Leah Waldo, but on stage, she’s Elisa Smith.
Smith got her start when she was a student at Harvard, and Garth Brooks invited her up on stage to sing a song at a talk he was giving at the university. He helped her get through her stage fright and even gave her a guitar and guitar pick.
The performance at Old North Church will serve as a benefit for her ongoing Kickstarter campaign to fund her highly anticipated album “Perfume.”
The concert is a unique opportunity for fans to experience Smith’s captivating musical style in one of the area’s most iconic venues — and 10% of the proceeds from her entire campaign will be donated to Rosie’s Place: the first women’s shelter in the U.S.
“I’m so excited to perform at the Old North Church and connect with my community,” Smith said. “This concert is not just about sharing my music and stories, but also about giving back. The work that Rosie’s Place does for women in need is incredible, and I’m honored to contribute in any way I can.”
Smith’s upcoming album “Perfume” showcases her growth both as an artist and storyteller. Her music blends country, folk and Americana influences with an authenticity and vulnerability that resonate deeply with listeners.
With the support of her dedicated fans, Smith aims to bring this new album to life through her $20,000 Kickstarter campaign, which will fund production, studio time and distribution.
The April 5 concert at Old North Church promises to be an unforgettable evening, with Smith performing a mix of her original songs, including selections from “Perfume,” and sharing the inspiration behind the music.
The event is free, but there is a suggested donation attendees can make toward Smith’s Kickstarter campaign. For more information, visit elisasmithmusic.com
